How to Update Your Counter-Strike 2 Server

Running the latest version keeps your Counter-Strike 2 server secure and compatible with current plugins. This guide shows how to update without breaking your setup.

How updates work

CS2 updates through SteamCMD when the server restarts. After a Valve update you may need to update Metamod and your plugins.

Safe update checklist

  1. Take a backup first.
  2. Update the server as described above.
  3. Update any plugins to match the new version.
  4. Start up and check the Console for errors before letting players back on.

If something breaks

Restore the backup you took to roll back, then try the update again once the plugins you use have caught up.
