Getting Started

Welcome to 8Bit Hosting

This guide walks you through everything you need to do after placing your first order to get your game server up and running.

Step 1: Check Your Email

Once your order is confirmed and payment received, you will receive an email with your login details and a link to the control panel. If you don't see it within a few minutes, check your spam/junk folder. Still nothing? Open a ticket in our Discord server.

Step 2: Log in to the Control Panel

Your game servers are managed through the Pterodactyl panel at panel.8bit-hosting.com. Log in with the credentials emailed to you and you will see your server listed on the dashboard.

Step 3: Start Your Server

  1. Click on your server from the panel dashboard
  2. Press the Start button in the top-right corner
  3. Watch the console — a Minecraft server will show "Done!" when ready
  4. Your connection address is shown under the Network section (e.g. node1.8bit-hosting.com:25565)

Step 4: Connect to Your Server

Use the IP and port from the panel to connect from your game client:

  • Minecraft: Multiplayer → Add Server → paste the address
  • Garry's Mod: open the console and type connect ip:port
  • Other games: check our Knowledge Base for game-specific guides

Step 5: Customise Your Server

From the panel you can:

  • Upload files via the built-in File Manager or via SFTP
  • Install plugins or mods (check the Startup tab for version options)
  • Edit config files directly in the browser
  • Create and restore backups from the Backups tab
  • Add friends or admins from the Users tab
