How to Install Mods on Hytale

Adding mods lets you customise your Hytale server. This guide explains how Hytale handles them and walks through installing them safely.

How Hytale handles mods

Hytale is built around modding. Server side scripts and content packs go in the server's mods and scripts folders. Tooling is still maturing, so keep an eye on official guidance as it is released.

Step by step

  1. Stop the server from the panel.
  2. Back up your world before adding anything.
  3. Add scripts or content packs to the server's mod folders using the File Manager.
  4. Restart and check the Console.
  5. Start the server and watch the Console for load messages.

Keep them working

  • Update mods whenever the game updates, mismatched versions are the main cause of problems.
  • Players usually need the same content to join.
  • Add a few at a time so you can spot any that cause issues.
