Troubleshooting Your Minecraft Server

Most Minecraft problems have quick fixes. Work through this guide before opening a ticket, and you will solve most issues yourself.

First checks

  1. Open the Console and read the most recent messages, errors usually point straight at the cause.
  2. Try a Restart from the panel.
  3. Check the CPU and RAM graphs, constant high usage means you need a bigger plan.
  4. Make sure the game and any plugins or mods are up to date.

Common problems and fixes

  • The server will not start. Check the Console. The most common cause is the EULA, which the panel accepts on first start. A corrupt world or a bad plugin can also stop startup, so remove recently added files and try again.
  • Players cannot connect. Make sure the server shows Running and that everyone is on the same Minecraft version as the server.
  • Lots of lag with players online. Lower view-distance, remove heavy plugins, and move up to a plan with more RAM.

Still stuck?

Open a support ticket and paste the error from your Console, along with your server name and 8Bit username. That helps us fix it quickly.
