Running the latest version keeps your Minecraft server secure and compatible with current plugins or mods. This guide shows how to update without breaking your setup.
How updates work
To change version, pick the new version or upload a new server jar in the Startup tab, then restart. Update plugins and mods to match the new version at the same time.
Safe update checklist
- Take a backup first.
- Update the server as described above.
- Update any plugins or mods to match the new version.
- Start up and check the Console for errors before letting players back on.
If something breaks
Restore the backup you took to roll back, then try the update again once the plugins or mods you use have caught up.
