This guide walks you through getting your Palworld dedicated server online for the first time, from your first boot to inviting friends.
What is Palworld?
Palworld is a survival and crafting game where you catch and work alongside creatures called Pals. A dedicated server lets you and your friends play together 24/7, even when you are offline, with full control over settings and rules.
Step 1: Set your admin password
Your admin password lets you run server commands in-game. Set it before the first start so it is saved correctly.
- Log in to the panel and open your Palworld server.
- Click Startup in the left sidebar.
- Enter a strong password in the Admin Password field and click Save.
- Optionally, set a Server Name and a Server Password (leave password blank for a public server).
Step 2: Start the server
Click Start on the Console tab. On the very first boot, the server downloads the game files from Steam, this can take 5 to 10 minutes. Wait for a line like Setting breakpad minidump AppID or Server started listening before trying to connect.
Step 3: Connect from Palworld
- Launch Palworld and click Multiplayer.
- Click Connect and enter your server's IP and port, the default Palworld port is
8211. - If you set a server password, enter it when prompted.
Your server's IP and port are shown at the top of its page in the panel.
Step 4: Become admin in-game
Once connected, open the in-game chat (Enter key) and type:
/AdminPassword YourAdminPassword
You will see a confirmation message. You can now use admin commands. See the Admin Guide for the full command list.
What next?
- Configure your server: adjust difficulty, XP rates, and more in
PalWorldSettings.ini. - Install mods: add Nexus Mods via the file manager.
- Set a server password: keep the server private to invited players only.
