How to Set Up Admins on Your Rust Server

Admins can manage players and use special commands. This guide shows how to grant admin on Rust and how to keep it secure.

Grant admin

Add yourself as owner with ownerid YOURSTEAMID64 "YourName" in users.cfg, or run it from the Console. Owners get the F1 admin menu and admin commands. Use moderatorid for trusted helpers who need fewer powers.

Good practice

  • Only give admin to people you trust.
  • Use strong, unique passwords for any admin features.
  • Keep a record of who has access, and remove it when it is no longer needed.
  • Avoid using admin powers during normal play to keep things fair.
