Troubleshooting Your Rust Server

Most Rust problems have quick fixes. Work through this guide before opening a ticket, and you will solve most issues yourself.

First checks

  1. Open the Console and read the most recent messages, errors usually point straight at the cause.
  2. Try a Restart from the panel.
  3. Check the CPU and RAM graphs, constant high usage means you need a bigger plan.
  4. Make sure the game and any plugins are up to date.

Common problems and fixes

  • Plugins stopped working after an update. Rust updated but Oxide did not. Update Oxide and then each plugin to the current version.
  • The server uses too much CPU or RAM. Lower the world size and trim plugins, or move to a larger plan.
  • The server does not appear in the browser. Give a brand new server time to generate its map on first boot, this can take several minutes.
