Troubleshooting Your Terraria Server

Most Terraria problems have quick fixes. Work through this guide before opening a ticket, and you will solve most issues yourself.

First checks

  1. Open the Console and read the most recent messages, errors usually point straight at the cause.
  2. Try a Restart from the panel.
  3. Check the CPU and RAM graphs, constant high usage means you need a bigger plan.
  4. Make sure the game and any mods are up to date.

Common problems and fixes

  • Mods will not load. You need a tModLoader server, not the vanilla server, and clients need the same mods.
  • Players cannot connect. Confirm port 7777 and that the world finished loading or creating.
  • The world reset. Always keep backups before changing world settings.
