How to Set Up Admins on Your Valheim Server

Admins can manage players and use special commands. This guide shows how to grant admin on Valheim and how to keep it secure.

Grant admin

Add the SteamID64 of each admin to adminlist.txt. Admins can use server commands. Use permitlist.txt to run an allow list, and bannedlist.txt to ban players.

Good practice

  • Only give admin to people you trust.
  • Use strong, unique passwords for any admin features.
  • Keep a record of who has access, and remove it when it is no longer needed.
  • Avoid using admin powers during normal play to keep things fair.
