Troubleshooting Your Valheim Server

Most Valheim problems have quick fixes. Work through this guide before opening a ticket, and you will solve most issues yourself.

First checks

  1. Open the Console and read the most recent messages, errors usually point straight at the cause.
  2. Try a Restart from the panel.
  3. Check the CPU and RAM graphs, constant high usage means you need a bigger plan.
  4. Make sure the game and any mods are up to date.

Common problems and fixes

  • Crossplay players cannot join. Check your crossplay setting in the Startup arguments.
  • Mods cause crashes. Server and client mods must match. Update them after every game update.
  • Players cannot connect. Both ports 2456 and 2457 need to be reachable, and the password must be at least 5 characters.
