How to Set Up Admins on Your Project Zomboid Server

Admins can manage players and use special commands. This guide shows how to grant admin on Project Zomboid and how to keep it secure.

Grant admin

Set the admin password on first launch. In game, type /setaccesslevel "Username" admin in chat to promote a player. Access levels include admin, moderator and overseer.

Good practice

  • Only give admin to people you trust.
  • Use strong, unique passwords for any admin features.
  • Keep a record of who has access, and remove it when it is no longer needed.
  • Avoid using admin powers during normal play to keep things fair.
