Troubleshooting Your Project Zomboid Server

Most Project Zomboid problems have quick fixes. Work through this guide before opening a ticket, and you will solve most issues yourself.

First checks

  1. Open the Console and read the most recent messages, errors usually point straight at the cause.
  2. Try a Restart from the panel.
  3. Check the CPU and RAM graphs, constant high usage means you need a bigger plan.
  4. Make sure the game and any mods are up to date.

Common problems and fixes

  • Players get a mod mismatch. Everyone must subscribe to the same Workshop mods, and the two ID lists on the server must match.
  • The server runs out of memory. Large mod lists need more RAM, move up a plan.
  • Players cannot connect. Both ports 16261 and 16262 need to be reachable.

Still stuck?

Open a support ticket and paste the error from your Console, along with your server name and 8Bit username. That helps us fix it quickly.
